1) What programs are available with Health Education 4U?
A variety of programs and presentations are available to meet wellness behavior modification. Programs and presentations provide an excellent resource for anyone wanting to gain knowledge for living a healthier lifestyle. Instruction can be presented in a group face-to-face venue in Northeast Ohio or via group virtual presentations. Please see the previous tab, "Programs" for a more detailed description.
2) What makes Health Education 4U stand out among other programs available online or face-to-face?
Health Education 4U helps to empower the participant to understand the importance of health and wellness. This is paramount to the Health Education 4U philosophy. If someone understands the "why" and "how" of health and wellness coupled with the coach's support, someone is more likely to succeed in their goals.
3) What are costs for the programs and presentations Health Education 4U provides?
Costs vary depending on the complexity and length of the presentation or program. Payment plans are available for the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) with a limited number of scholarships. 4) What is the time commitment for the online Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)?
The program consists of 16 weekly lessons with one lesson released each week. After the 16 week period (four months), one lesson is introduced once a month for six months. Participants of the program meet virtual according to the program release schedule in a group with the lifestyle coach.
5) What are the activities for online DPP sessions?
It is required that each participant keep a log throughout the week and report to the Lifestyle Coach their foods consumed, activities performed and current weight. All this information is kept confidential unless the participant wants to share with others in the sessions. Participants “meet” each week through a conference call once a program is released. The calls will be scheduled several times during the week to ensure participants can attend. Conference calls help support lifestyle changes.
6) How is the online DPP delivered?
The online program is emailed once a week with all the materials participants need to complete their lifestyle change activities.
Group conference calls are set up with the Lifestyle Coach helping participants understand the materials for that week, help with any challenges, and provide guidance for reaching goals.
7) How was the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) developed?
The program is an evidenced-based program developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Research shows the DPP is more effective for prediabetes than medication. Request a free sample of the Diabetes Prevention Program.
8) What makes the Health Education 4U DPP stand out among other programs available online or face-to-face?
The support received from your Lifestyle Coach and other participants in the sessions will help keep participants on track to reach their goals. Even though it is not a weight loss program the goal is to reduce body weight by 5 to 7% which has proven to reduce the risk or the occurrence of prediabetes and diabetes.
Participants that complete the program are eligible to enroll in the Group Premium Support Package. Health Education 4U provides an additional six group phone consultations beyond the set program. The six package consultation includes 20 minute phone consultations on a weekly basis, bi-weekly basis or monthly basis. This equals 2 hours of addition group support for only $49! All participants in the DPP will receive email updates as long as desired regarding information on the program with helpful coaching tips to keep on track!
Technology is used to enhance the DPP experience with the face-to-face (Greater Cleveland, Ohio area). Emails, texts, telephone conference calls, sly dial, newsletters etc., can enhance the participant's success.
9) How is the face-to-face DPP delivered?
The face-to-face DPP is delivered at a designated employer’s or organization’s location in Northeast Ohio. The curriculum is the same as the online program. The group meets once a week for 16 weeks, bi-monthly for three months and once a month for four months. Weigh-ins (in privacy) and activity information (in privacy) are collected at the meetings. Discussions are done among the group at the designated location. The group meets for one hour per week.
